On the occasion of the 30-anniversary of Elementary Teaching Branch, which is the origin of the establishment of the Faculty of Education Sciences, there was held a festive activity from the academic staff of this Faculty on 21.12.2011.
The opening of the Elementary Teaching Branch 30
years ago, as a separate branch of the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Shkodra,
constitutes a significant event in the history of our education and in strengthening
the quality of primary education. Teachers of psychology and pedagogy formed
the committee of psychology and pedagogy on its own in 1969-1970. The establishment
of a branch of higher education in preparing teachers for Elementary teaching was
not only a difficult initiative but also so challenging.
The opening speech of this activity was held by Professor Mehdi Kroni who
welcomed all the participants.
The Rector of the Shkodra University, Prof. dr. Artan Haxhi in his
congratulating speech addressed to all participants of this activity a warm congratulation
for this anniversary. He went on by expressing his greatest gratitude to all the
teaching staff, students and administrative staff for their immense
contribution that have given to this Faculty for many years. As a result of
this work this Faculty has created its identity, tradition and its physiognomy. He
also praised the achievements in terms of the establishment of new branches and
extending through the opening of new programs of master studies. Now this
Faculty offers 14 programs of studies in Professional Masters all designed
according to modern requirements of science and pedagogy. Rector also wished that
this Department would open the third cycle of studies, the doctoral schools in
pedagogy in 2012.
The Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences, Prof. as. dr. Midhat
Hoxha, made a chronology of the creation of this faculty in his speech.
The first period 1981-1990 includes the opening a separate branch of the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Shkodra, the Branch Elementary Teaching. He described this period as "a difficult start but as a successful one".
In the second period 1991-1998 began with democratic processes in Albania. At this time this Branch got the status Faculty.
The third period, 1998-2011, is the period of important steps towards contemporary European Science of the Faculty of Education. He ended his speech by saying that the results they had achieved had fully justified the opening and operation of this branch.
